Was the QIBLA changed? Understand rightly
ThevQIBLA was never changed. It is a great misunderstanding of the verses of the Quran. In fact people do not understand the right meaning of QIBLA which a belief that should always be kept before all the believers that they should serve only One God without joining any other god ( Ruler) with Him. That is all the commands given by Him in the Quran should be believed and acted upon by them.Another important word not understood properly is MAA WALLAHUM which means” They did not face the QIBLA which they( the Jews) wanted to be made”. It’s root is WA LA YAA meaning to be near something, to face something. Turn away is not a suitable meaning of this word.
God says in 2:142 to 147,” The foolish among the people( the Jews) will say,” ( Why) they ( Muslims) did not face towards the QIBLA they were on( the Jews wanted their QIBLA to be made by the Muslims)”( Turned away is not correct here.( because it’s root is WA LA YAA, to be near someone, to face towards as used in 31:7,” And when Our messages are recited to him, he faces towards something instead of facing to hear the Quran.arrogantly.....( WALLA MUSTAKBIRAN)....)God guides to His Straight Path whoever wishes to”. “ In this way, We made you the best community ( with the same beliefs)so that you may become witnesses over the people and the Messenger will be a witness over you. And We made the QIBLA, And We made the QIBLA on which you were( you wanted to be made) except that ( MAA here means whatever We made) ( It does not mean “ NOT”).We May know who follows the Messenger and who would turn back on his heels. Indeed, it is difficult except for those who are guided by Allah......”.
“ We did certainly see your face( the Messenger’s) turning your face towards the sky ( to expect KAA’BA to be made the QIBLA). So face towards the QIBLA, which you are pleased with, so face towards MASJIDUL HARAM ( KAA’BA in Mecca)wherever you are( FA WALLA and FA WALLOO)towards its side. And those who were given the Book of God ( with His guidance. The Jews and the Christians) do know well that this is the true one from their Lord and the Master......”.
These three verses clearly prove that in Medina when the Messenger came, he decided to make KAA’BA according to God’s instructions, the QIBLA which means that all the believers should face towards this Qibla to remind them to serve one God Only without joining other God’s with Him).
There was no Mosque of Solomon or any other mosque towards which the Muslims could face. Hence, there was no change of the QIBLAA.
